What Happens to Our Happiness?

I came across this photo of these beautiful little girls. The note beneath it stated that the two were adopted sisters.

I began to wonder about the path of their lives and whether or not they would be able to maintain a happy state of mind in our complex world. That’s all happiness is … a state of mind … something YOU have the power to choose … something you must cling to in order to thrive.

Remez Sasson once said, “Choose happiness, concentrate on happiness and you will find it everywhere.”

Have a happy weekend. 🙂

I am happy. I have woken this morning to a glorious day around me. The weather is perfect (we are heading into winter now so the edge has gone from our sizzling days) and the birds are all busy singing and playing.

In Paradise, it is hard not to maintain happiness...the trick for me has been keeping the picture of Paradise with me wherever I go. Whenever I have felt depressed, threatened or unhappy, I simply conjure up a picture of myself walking through our Botanic Garden. The feelings associated with that image instantly calm and anchor me.

My life is good Jackie and thanks for the reminder that happiness truly is a state of mind. No matter what life throws at us, we can always control our thoughts and the pictures in our mind.

I am enticed with this photo, those smiles are real. As we grow older, happiness becomes a complicated thing, though we know it shouldn't be.
Indeed, happiness is a choice. We can't put someone in-charge for this.

    Hello Estell,
Like you, I was drawn to this photograph because of the realness of it. It's a shame that we must literally fight each day to maintain true happiness. In an ideal world, I would love to believe that happiness is the norm and there's little room for despair. So I guess this is our great opportunity to use our POWER to make it a reality ... drive out unhappiness by celebrating any and all victories, small or large, and being thankful for the treasures we have, especially our friends.

    Hi Megan,
Just from watching the Australian Open, I know the heat can be unmerciful.

I love the idea of keeping a picture of paradise in the forefront of our minds. It's wonderful that many of us CAN control our thoughts and the pictures that come knocking at the door of our brain. We can decide what we want to entertain. That's the beauty of it ALL. :-)
