Talk & Taste: The Writer’s Edition Networking & Fundraising Event

On March 22, 2011 at 5 Season’s Brewing on 1000 Marietta Street in Atlanta, Georgia — Talk & Taste: The Writer’s Edition Networking and Fundraising Event hosted by Corey”Tax Guy” Moore, President of Fortune Financial Group/FFG Tax Service and Jewelry Designer, Ms. Swindia Karina was in full swing from 6-9pm. Many of metro Atlanta’s finest writers were on hand showcasing their latest works. People were mixing, mingling and networking throughout the second floor of the establishment.

We were honored to be a vendor at this well-attended networking and fundraising event. The People You Need to Know display table was once again a place of mega activity and excitement as everyone wanted to take a picture in front of our giant magazine cover poster.

There were many people who made a lasting impression at this event and we’d like to introduce you to a few of them beginning with Connell Duncan, author of Faith Science: Where Faith and the Scientific Method Collide. An engineer by trade and a native of Trinidad and Tobago, Connell was there signing copies of his new book and having a good time networking and meeting new people. Antonio Smith was also there signing copies of his new book, The Sellionaire.

Phyllis Wallace, one of the contributing authors of 42 Rules for Effective Connections, was another one of the people promoting and signing copies of her book and speaking about the 18th rule (Personalize Your Follow-up). W. Alvin Jackson also took time out of his busy schedule to be there to sign and talk about his new book, Witness.

It was a pleasure seeing Nannetta Scott, Publisher of PMU Magazine again.

One of the first people to visit our vendor table was Angel Vickers, President of The Global Voice & Associates. Her company is a speaker’s bureau that addresses justice issues such as Human Trafficking. Ms. Kim Sheffield, publisher of the upcoming Esteem Magazine stopped by our table to say hello and told us once again how much she enjoyed attending our “Helping Women Succeed in America Tour” Kick-off at the Fernbank Museum in Atlanta on January 29, 2011.

Independent Consultant with Future Forward, LLC, Rochelle Stockett, stopped by to inquire about our magazine. It was great meeting Mary Ellen Thompson with Solid Source Realty. She attended the event with a few of her friends.

MLA Gourmet Owner/Baker, Monique Armstrong, was a big hit at the event as she gave everyone who came up to her table freshly baked Oatmeal Raisin and Chocolate Chip cookies. Prosper Miller, Founder/National Director of Prosper Me! Consulting made it a point to say hello and shared with us some of the new things she’s been up to lately.

Ashbeezy Breezy, Promotions Director for GetUpRadio.com, an online radio station, came by to find out more about People You Need to Know Magazine. Sonja Crystal Williams, Director of Marketing with Go Getter Marketing Group Inc., came by to introduce herself and to pick up a copy of our magazine to share with her clients.

The very photogenic and bubbly Porshia Renee Williams, Skin Care and Color Cosmetics Specialist with Mary Kay Skin Care & Cosmetics was kind enough to stop by our table and pose for a few pictures. Karlyn D. Henderson, M.A., Managing Principal for Poimena Consulting, LLC, visited with us for awhile to learn more about our publication and to talk a little bit about when people are engaged, organizations are more effective.

Donna Permell with Prime Phocus took time out to visit with us. Business Solutions Services, CEO, Ms. G. Jackson was a real pleasure to meet and we really enjoyed speaking with her throughout the evening.

Carl Lawson, MPH, Country Officer for the CDC’s Global Disease Detection and Emergency Response Center for Global Health made an introduction and picked up a copy of our magazine. Joshua Caleb Jackson, Founder & CEO of JC Jackson Event Management paid us a visit to find out more information.

Donna J. Payne, Broker/Author was a real joy to meet and she told us about her exciting new and uplifting book that will be available for purchase in the summer of 2011. The title of Donna’s book is Dare to Soar: A Season For Change. She is a 2010 breast cancer survivor. Her book is about encouraging and inspiring people to use their gifts within to soar to new heights.

Celebrity make-up artist and Cincinnati, Ohio, native Dinamarie stopped by our display table to find out more about our company and to tell us about how she uses her airbrush makeup technique to make women look flawless.

Lastly, it was an absolute pleasure to be in the company of royalty when the reigning Miss Black Georgia, Shawnnell Brown, (Pictured Left) made an appearance at our display table. She picked up a copy of our publication and patiently posed for picture after picture in front of our giant cover poster. Best wishes Shawnnell, in your quest to be crowned Miss Black USA in Washington, DC in August 2011!

Once again, we’d like to give a special thanks to the hosts, Corey “Tax Guy” Moore and Swindia Karina for working hard to make this event happen for the benefit of everyone involved.

Stay tuned to read about our next event as we continue our 2011 PYNTK Magazine Tour to promote the people in our publication.
