Why a Sports Bra is a Critical Part of Your Wardrobe
It wasn’t all that long ago that a woman could get by on a few bras … that is no longer the case. As we learn more about how wear and tear impacts breasts, new specialty bras have been developed. The sports bra has been around for some time and is a vital part to your wardrobe.

The first thing to understand about the sports bra is you don’t have to be running a marathon to need one. Any type of up and down motion where the breasts are going to be moving a lot will do the trick. When your breasts move repeatedly, they tend to stretch out, which is a bad thing in the opinion of nearly every woman!

To understand the issue, we have to do a quick anatomy lesson. The breasts are primarily comprised of fat. This essentially creates two weighted masses on your chest. When you move up and down or side to side quickly, these weights move in a delayed manner that causes a lot of stress for the anchor mechanisms.

The anchor mechanisms are where we find the root of the problem. Your breasts are anchored to the core of the body by “Cooper’s ligaments.” Ligaments have a bad habit of stretching over time, if put under stress via weight or weighted movement. In practical terms, this means that as your breasts move about, the ligaments are being put under stress and slowly stretching.

A sports bra works by minimizing the movement of the breast when you are in motion. If you think of a woman jogging in place without a bra, her breasts are going to be bouncing up and down, putting massive stress on the anchor of the breasts. A sports bra works by firmly holding the breast to the chest wall. Each breast is fully encapsulated, so there is no room for spillage. The girls are also held up against the chest so that no forward and backwards movement is excessive.

As you might imagine, the average sports bra is not exactly the sexiest of undergarments. That’s okay because the purpose is to protect the breasts, not enhance an outfit. All and all, a sports bra can be a real savior for most women. Long term, the bra will keep you from suffering the excessive effects of gravity. Short term, it should eliminate any discomfort you might feel when building up a sweat. This alone makes it a critical part of your wardrobe.

Since most of us seem to be “too busy” to prepare a healthy meal, consider eating more fresh fruits and vegetables. During this season, you can find fresh fruits galore. Pack them for lunch or have them as a quick snack on a regular basis, and you’ll begin see and feel a difference in your body.

———————

8 Easy Ways to Increase Your Fruit and Vegetable Intake

Eating enough fruit and vegetables is vital for keeping your body healthy fit, and at an ideal weight. If you neglect to eat enough, you are likely to gain weight, weaken your immune system, and feel generally under the weather. It can be hard to get enough fruits and vegetables, particularly when leading a busy modern lifestyle. Follow these 8 easy ways to get your fruit and vegetable consumption up to the recommended level.

1. Get a juicer. Fruit or vegetable juice is a quick and easy way to consume a lot of fruit and vegetables. You can purchase juices in a variety of different flavors, but remember to only get the ones that have the bits. If it has been too processed, a lot of the nutrients will be lost. You can even get a home juicer and control exactly what goes in.

2. Make your own muesli for breakfast, and ensure that you add lots of chopped fruit. This is a fantastic healthy way to start the day, and if done regularly, you will be well on your way to getting enough fruit in your diet.

3. Only snack on fruits. The sheer amount of variety of fruits available means you will never get bored, and fruit will provide everything you need from a mid-day snack.

4. Add extra veggies whenever possible, particularly in your sandwiches. Instead of just using ham and cheese, put some lettuce, tomato and cucumber inside too. Get creative with adding vegetables to your meals; every bit adds up.

5. Serve fruit-based puddings in the evenings. Everybody likes a sweet dessert, but this does not mean that your desserts have to be high in sugar and fat. Fruit-based crumbles or fruit salads are just as delicious and will satisfy your sweet cravings while adding to your total fruit intake for the day.

6. Make a variety of vegetable soups. Soups are easy to make, and can be made in bulk and frozen for easy access later. Soups are a great way to pack in lots of different vegetables and they taste great. This is a particularly good tip for getting children to eat more vegetables.

7. Try adding fruit to your main meals. This may sound unconventional, but adding dried fruits like sultanas and apricots to curries enhance the taste, and add to your fruit count for the day.

8. Start making fruit and vegetable-based starters. Chopped vegetables and fruits with dips make great starters, and are a novel way of increasing the whole family’s fruit and vegetable consumption.

Andrea Riggs definitely believes in what she does and cares about getting women fit and strong so they can live healthier lives and Get Body Beautiful.

Though the weather was cold and rainy, it could not keep hundreds of women from attending the high-energy Get Body Beautiful Health and Wellness event this past Saturday at the Cobb Galleria.

I arrived early and the pink colorful venue was already buzzing with anticipation of what was to come. We were all there to feel the energy and be inspired by Andrea Riggs, aka “Ms. Body Beautiful,” one of the nation’s top fitness and nutrition coaches.

In case you’re thinking this was an event where the attendees just walked around to find out what the many vendors had to offer, or listen to one lecture after another, think again. Ms. Riggs planned this event to specifically help those in attendance to jump-start their hearts, and begin to move toward a goal of consistently exercising, as well as living and eating healthier.

Before long, she was on stage and we were on our feet, doing stretches and exercising, moving and grooving to the upbeat music. And just to spice things up a bit, one of her associates came onto the stage and led us into a session of “Sexy Salsa Dancing.”

Another treat for us was the famous chef, author, and TV personality, Marvin Woods. He was there to ‘drop some knowledge’ regarding healthy eating. Right away, I started putting into practice some of the valuable information he shared.

From skin care tips, massages, nutritional information, or getting measured for jeans that hug our curves just right, the benefits of this wonderful experience were too numerous to mention. And if you were there, you’d agree that Ms. Riggs definitely believes in what she does and cares about getting women fit and strong so they can live healthier lives.

If you missed this life-changing event, I would advise you to visit Andrea’s website, GetBodyBeautiful.com to find out when she’ll be having her next pep rally for good health. You will not leave without having a desire to change your life for the good.

For the past fifteen years, Andrea has immersed herself in the world of health and fitness, and is ready to help you manage your lifestyle, nutrition and fitness for better weight management. If done consistently, it will definitely lead to improvements in your cholesterol, blood pressure, and the prevention of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure.

Tune in to hear her passion…
