Metro Atlanta Business Network Fall Expo: A SUCCESS!

September 25, 2010–World Trade Center, Atlanta, Georgia

Metro Atlanta Business Network (Metro ABN) hosted their 2010 Fall Expo at the World Trade Center in the heart of downtown Atlanta. Metro ABN helps their members leverage Linkedin connections through face-to-face introductions at monthly Metro Mixers, Linkedin training and their annual business Expos.

Dahlys Hamilton, the Founder/CEO, and her daughter, Janelle Hamilton, Managing Partner of Metro ABN, really put their heart and soul into the 2010 Fall Expo. I was truly amazed at how much those two were able to put into a one-day Expo.

The 2010 Fall Expo started for me around 9:00am. We had a 20-30 minute rehearsal for the Fashion Show with the businesswomen who were the models for the show. After the rehearsal, we hurriedly finished setting up our People You Need to Know Magazine display table.

It was nice seeing Gail Middleton, the Marketing Director with Roam Atlanta at the Fall Expo a few tables down from us. Before we knew it, we were open for business and the Expo was underway.

At 10:45am, Dahlys Hamilton gave her welcome and opening remarks letting everyone know what was in store for them at the expo. She introduced her partners, sponsors and CIS Biotech.

At 11:15am, Atlanta’s Psychological illusionist extraordinaire, Nick Compise wowed the crowd with his mind-blowing illusions.

At 2:00pm, the Business Fashion Show began with great fanfare. I was happy to act as the MC for the Fashion Show. The female models looked absolutely fantastic in all of the latest fashions for businesswomen, provided by Dillard’s at North Point Mall and Etcetera. Sara Falgoust, Area District Manager of Etcetera and Kate Stradtman, Sales Consultant of Etcetera did an exceptional job at describing the clothes each model wore down the runway.

It was great seeing Rebecca McClain, CEO of RM Enterprises at the event, she was one of the models for the fashion show. Rebecca is an award-winning Personal and Business Coach who will be featured on the cover of the upcoming Business Superstars Edition of People You Need to Know Magazine. All of the businesswomen who were the featured models for the fashion show had lots of energy and it was an absolute pleasure to meet them all.

Jesse Walker, Principal of The Faulkner Real Estate Group did a great job modeling five different magnificent outfits. Jesse (headline photo above) is a native of Greer, South Carolina, and a graduate of the University of South Carolina. Go Gamecocks! Jesse reminded everyone that she has two Lakefront Lots on Lake Lanier Island selling at cost.

It was a joy to meet California Producer and Actress Karon Cook. Karon was a real pro on the runway, thanks to her Hollywood experience. She has two Indie Films under her belt and has appeared in major motion pictures, dozens of commercials, voice-overs and more. If anyone reading this article knows Tyler Perry, Karon would like to meet him!

I also met the unforgettable Kenya Pierre, Patent Counselor for the Coca-Cola Company. She really made her husband and three daughters very proud by the way she worked the runway like America’s next top model.

Another People You Need to Know Magazine client who participated in the fashion show was the ever health-conscious Lori A. Manns, CEO of Quality Media Consultant Group. Lori is a strategic media buyer and is also proficient in placing advertising campaigns across all platforms including: TV, Radio, Internet, Print, Direct mail and Outdoor Advertising.

Jennifer Dunphy, VP of Sales and Marketing for Atlanta based online marketing agency, Vayu Media really represented all of Atlanta’s sales and marketing professionals very well. Congratulations once again, Jennifer, for being nominated two years in a row as one of the Small Business People of the year, by the metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.

We really appreciated Jacqueline Chambliss, Atlanta’s official Connoisseur of Wines for stopping by our display table and introducing herself as the owner of The European Wine Table and one of the models for the fashion show. Jacqueline’s on a mission to educate consumers and the trade about wine regions and the wines that come from them.

And then there was Sabrina Clark, Branch Manager with Yoh Services, they are a leading provider of high impact IT and engineering talent to organizations looking to grow and meet their goals on time. Sabrina did a phenomenal job representing the IT world on the runway.

Janelle Hamilton, Managing Partner with Metro Atlanta Business Network, pulled triple duty on Saturday. She helped put on the Expo, she was the Mistress of Ceremonies for the fashion show and was also the very first model to walk the runway. She did an outstanding job with all three tasks. Janelle, good luck studying for your Series 7 to become a Private Client Associate at Bernstein Global Wealth Management.

Barbara Meyer, thanks for stopping by our display table to say hello and introduce yourself. We appreciate your presence at the Expo and congratulations for your 25 years of providing financial and technical support to grassroots communities and organizing in 14 southeastern states. If you ever come out of retirement, we just might have a modeling job for you. You did a fantastic job on Saturday.

Another young lady that visited our display table to make her introduction was Josetta Shropshire, President and CEO of  Positive Promotions, Ltd. She has been in business since 1992. Josetta is currently producing the New Hit T.V. Show “Women on the Move around the Globe”. As a former model, modeling for the fashion show was just another routine experience for this renaissance woman.

And the final model for the fashion show was the ever-friendly and very positive Marie-Antoinette, “Atlanta’s Queen of Texting” and Marketing Director for They help connect businesses, organizations and communities one text at a time. text message marketing services provide a way for businesses and organizations to use an everyday communication tool to get their word out quickly and inexpensively.

And at 3:30pm, the Business Dating Game began with a set-up similar to the Dating Game T.V. Show that used to air in the 1970’s. Throughout the day, we had a diverse group of people coming up to our display table wanting to know more about People You Need to Know Magazine.

Anne E. Brown, Independent Consultant with Rodan + Fields Dermatologists was eager to say hello and find out more about our organization. The team of Terry and Natalia Hartley from AdzZoo in Bluffton, South Carolina stopped by to chat for a while. Latitia D. Spaulding, Creative Director with The Spaulding Agency came by to tell us a little bit about her agency. And the Counselor and Anger Management Specialist Neca C. Smith, Ed. S., LPC, CAMS with Aidevo People Consulting, LLC was grateful to pick up a complementary copy of our magazine at the Expo.

Trina Arpasi, PHR, Business Development & Retention with Hewitt Coleman Risk Management Services stopped by to say hello and even posed for a few pictures with a copy of our magazine. The Graphics House President and Principal Graphic Designer came by with a beautiful smile on her face, ready to tell us about her business and eager to learn about ours. We look forward to having her do some graphic design work for us in the future.

Delphina Byrd, Financial Advisor with National Financial Services Group made herself known to us by coming by to chat for a while. Lisa Douglas, President and CEO of Inklusion PR, public relations for a diverse world made herself known with a very eye-catching business card.

Cynthia Toso with Montt Crerative paid us a visit to introduce herself and tell us about Montt Creative. Charlene Woolley, Consultant for Xpanxion visited with us for a short time to inquire about our publication. And Vivian Gerow with VIP Personalized Communication told us about how her company can help with Data Entry, Mailing List Management, Direct Mail Preparation and more.

After speaking with her on the phone, it was nice to finally meet face-to-face Evelyn Jackson another Rodan + Fields Dermatologists representative that stopped by our display table on Saturday.

And last, but definitely not least, the lady with the million-dollar voice Ms. India Hines, President of No Junk Productions graced us with her presence. India is a Radio Personality, Producer, Director and incredible Voice Talent. We look forward to India Hines being the Mistress of Ceremonies at our upcoming Business Superstar Awards Breakfast, “Honoring women in business who are making things happen in metro Atlanta.” It will be held at the Atlanta Marriott Downtown in the Centennial Ballroom on October 1, 2010, 160 Spring Street, close to Centennial Park.
