Meet Dr. Taunya Lowe at the 2011 Business Superstars’ Awards Breakfast
People You Need to Know Magazine, Atlanta’s #1 magazine showcasing women business owners will be honoring Dr. Taunya Lowe at the 2nd Annual Business Superstars’ Awards Breakfast on October 7, 2011. This awards breakfast will be held in the Centennial Ballroom at the Atlanta Marriott Downtown on Spring Street from 8:00 am to 10:00 am.
Dr. Taunya A. Lowe is a Human Services Consultant and the CEO of The Resurgent Group of Metro Atlanta, LLC (TRGMA) established in 2006, a trainer for the Southeast Addiction Technology Transfer Center (SATTC) located at Morehouse School of Medicine, and a Visiting Professor for DeVry University. She thoroughly enjoys training human service providers on best practices in the field of mental health and addiction to equip them with the tools they need to offer quality services.
Dr. Lowe holds a doctorate in General Human Services and a certificate in Diversity Studies from Capella University; a Masters degree in Counseling and Psychological Services, and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Community Health Education both from Clark Atlanta University. Dr. Lowe brings a wealth of knowledge from various perspectives. Her background spans many disciplines which include: nonprofit organizations, academia, counseling services, consulting, strategic planning, leadership coaching for non-profits, training, private sector, and government.
She has worked in various aspects of the field of addiction since 1997 and is most proud of her role as the Statewide Women’s Treatment Coordinator for the Department of Mental Health Developmental Disabilities and Addictive Diseases (DMHDDAD) from 1999 to 2004, where she developed the infrastructure for women’s treatment, introduced the Trauma Recovery and Empowerment (TREM) trauma model, and earned the 2003 statewide Community Service Award for improving the quality of life for women’s gender specific substance abuse residential services.
