Dr. Lorie Johnson to Speak at Kick-off of Helping Women Succeed in America Tour

Dr. Lorie Johnson will be a guest speaker at the kick-off of the Helping WOMEN Succeed in America Tour held at the Fernbank Auditorium in Atlanta, Georgia on January 29th.

In only 14 years, Dr. Johnson has gone from a single parent struggling to support her 3-year-old daughter while attending medical school – with no car or money – to a successful board certified obstetrician/gynecologist (Ob/Gyn) with her own practice, Just For You Women’s Healthcare.

Speaking of that difficult time Dr. Lorie says
, “I cried a lot of tears and even thought about quitting – for like a day, but I stuck it out and prayed a little harder. Through it all, I never failed a class or test. I just kept moving forward.”

That determination and perseverance helped Dr. Lorie earn degrees at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and MCP/Hahnemann University in Philadelphia and achieve her goal of becoming a doctor, which had been a lifelong dream since she was 4-years-old. The Consumer Research Council listed her as one of the “Top Ob/Gyns in America” last year.

Before coming to Georgia, Dr. Lorie Johnson was employed as a physician in a group practice. Starting her own practice took a huge leap of faith and a lot of hard work, but she kept moving forward. Her godmother served as the perfect role model …a businesswoman who always did everything “with excellence and class.” Dr. Lorie’s children also gave her inspiration.

“When I don’t want to push for me, I push for them,” she says.

Dr. Lorie’s charitable spirit has moved her to travel to Africa on more than one occasion to provide medical services through the Worldwide Mission Church. This year, her office will host “The World’s Biggest Baby Shower” as a way to help families in need.

When asked about future plans, Dr. Lorie Johnson says the sky is the limit for 2011. ”I’m hoping to become the premier location in Atlanta for women’s healthcare.”
