The Beauty of BlogTalkRadio

By now, most people should at least be vaguely familiar with BlogTalkRadio. It launched in 2006, allowing anyone who was interested, to have their very own live radio show … absolutely free.

Thanks to our good friend, Louie Jones, the host of a popular Chicago radio show, The Louie Jones Show, we were introduced to this online medium. People You Need to Know on radio, hosted by motivational speaker, and magazine publisher, Spark Plug, launched its first show in September, 2007. Since that time, we’ve seen this phenomenal platform grow by leaps and bounds. From regular guests to well-known celebrities representing all walks of life, BlogTalkRadio is a powerful force to be reckoned with in the communications industry.

Having your own show is not a walk in the park. If you’re looking to have some sort of professionalism in your presentation, you must be committed to improving with each and every show. We’re definitely not the same since we started in 2007, thank goodness. Not only that, you are responsible for rounding up your own guests. After a while, radio guests will start trickling in, but still, you must work at keeping your show interesting.

Since we’re in the publishing business, we were fortunate enough to have a network of people whom we could immediately invite to be on the show to talk about anything from dentistry to law. Those particular interviews are still getting hits (being listened to) today. That’s the beauty of having an online radio show. Traditional radio shows will have you on their show and unless you get a copy of the interview to add to your website or podcast, your show is yesterday’s news. BlogTalkRadio can actually help brand your business for years to come.

We’ve gotten several testimonials from clients who told us that their interview on Spark Plug Radio sealed several business deals with clients who Googled them and found their interview. Their potential clients were able to get a better feel of who they were and their level of expertise as they listened to their interview. How powerful is that?

If you’re thinking about starting your own online radio show using BlogTalkRadio, be patient, especially if you have no experience. Even though the platform is fairly simple to use, there are other issues, which might cause you a bit of frustration, but trust me, you’ll eventually find your way. We now have listeners in over 35 countries.

So, however you choose to use this powerful platform, make sure you have fun!

If you’d like to be a guest on Spark Plug Radio, send us a topic using the contact form with your particular topic in the subject line. We’d love to discuss it with you.
